CTES Electric Boilers in underground thermal energy storage

Vantaan Energia Oy is planning a purchase of the complete delivery of two (2) or four (4) hot water Electric Boilers.

Vantaan Energia Oy (later also the Purchaser) is planning to invest in non-fossil fuel district heat production by purchasing two (2) or four (4) new electric boilers (later also the Electric Boilers or the Works) to be installed in new underground seasonal heat storage of 1,000,000 m3 filled with hot water up to 140ºC. The Electric Boilers will generate district heat water to the district heat network in Vantaa and for heating the heat storage. AFRY Finland is acting as a technical consultant on behalf and for Vantaan Energia Oy who will be the contracting entity in this procurement. The Works shall be consisting of the complete delivery of two (2) or four (4) hot water Electric Boilers comprising preliminarily: - Two (2) or Four (4) electric boilers (number of boilers will be specified in tendering phase) with a total capacity of 120 MWThermal, having electric power supply of approx. 20 kV - Water treatment system - Project management, design and engineering - Manufacturing and assembly of all necessary auxiliary equipment with internal piping (boiler circuit), valves, pumps, control and instrumentation, electrification, and cabling - Packing and transport to the site - Erection and installation in the underground cavern - Start-up, commissioning, and test-run - Necessary consumables and spare parts for commissioning - Documentation and O&M Manual and training - Possible Options (mandatory options will be specified in tendering phase): • District heat exchangers with preliminary district heat design temperature and pressure of 150oC and PN40 • Underground haulage to installation site in the underground cavern • Zero-load capability • Recommended spare parts The Works shall be compliant with Finnish law and stipulations by Finnish authorities. In addition, the design and implementation of the Works shall meet the EU and Finnish design standards and norms.
