Radioactive seeds (iodine-125) and plaques (Ru-106) used in eye radiotherapy

The contracting entity Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa ("HUS") arranges competitive tendering (negotiated procedure) for radioactive seeds (iodine-125) and plaques (Ru-106) used in eye radiotherapy. In a negotiated procedure all prospective suppliers may request permission to participate. The contracting entity will negotiate the terms and conditions of the procurement agreement with the suppliers that it selects.

OBJECT OF THE PROCUREMENT The object of the procurement is to sign a agreement with one supplier for deliveries of iodine-125 ophthalmic seeds and Ruthenium-106 eye applicators needed by HUS within time limits set out in the final tender. The combined annual value of purchases is approx. 65,000.00 euros (VAT 0 %). SCOPE OF THE PROCUREMENT This procurement is for 1) ruthenium-106 ophthalmic plaques (models CCX, CCA and CCB) and 2) iodine-125 seeds used for ocular brachytherapy (melanoma, retinoblastoma, etc.). The number of patients to be treated per year is 70-80 and the maximum treatment time is set to two weeks: the delivery (renewal) of the Ru-106 plaques and I-125 seeds are to be adjusted in proportion. Accessories such as templates and sterilization containers shall also be discussed during negotiated procedure.
