Suorahankinnan perustelut
BACKGROUND INFO
One of the research areas of Tampere University - Aerosol Physics Laboratory (APL) - focuses on the research of emission related aerosols. The existing research infrastructure includes extensive instrumentation for particulate matter characterization in the particle size range starting from approximately 1 nm. In addition to the more traditional aerosol instrumentation, the infrastructure is also equipped with state-of-the art aerosol and chemical ionization mass spectrometers capable of atmospheric pressure sampling.
NEED
In order to expand the capabilities to study the secondary aerosol formation potential of emission sources, the APL is seeking for an aerosol oxidation flow reactor. The intended use of the instrument includes use in field campaigns.
For this reason, the instrument needs to be field deployable and incorporate all components necessary for performing aerosol oxidation studies including integrated data acquisition and instrument control.
The instrument must be capable of mimicking the aerosol ageing in atmospheric conditions with a photochemical age in the range of 0.5 to 10 days. The instrument must also have low particle losses in the particle size range from 10 to 100 nm and a residence time below 100 s.
MARKET ANALYSIS AND CONCLUSION FOR DIRECT AWARD
According to contracting authority’s knowledge, the DORF offered by Dekati Oy is the only instrument on the market fulfilling the requirements specified above. This instrument is specifically intended for the purpose.
For the proper market survey purposes contracting authority has studied instrument offerings of several manufacturers but has not found another instrument fulfilling all requirements.
