Suorahankinnan perustelut
ARGUMENTATION
Covidence is a specialized platform for managing the entire workflow of systematic literature reviews (screening, full-text review, data extraction, and quality evaluation).
Covidence is specifically built to meet the requirements of the PRISMA protocol and the Cochrane community.
• PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) is a guideline designed to improve the reporting of systematic reviews. PRISMA provides authors with guidance and examples of how to completely report why a systematic review was done, what methods were used, and what results were found.
• The Cochrane Community is an international non-profit network focused on supporting healthcare decision-making through reliable research evidence. It is best known for systematic reviews that evaluate the effectiveness of treatments, interventions, and diagnostics.
It combines features essential for academic research: intuitive user interface, team-based collaboration, integration with major reference managers, bulk PDF upload, RevMan export for meta-analysis, and institutional licensing. Covidence also provides training and support resources that ensure efficient adoption.
What makes Covidence unique?
• Fully optimized for systematic reviews
• Supports the entire workflow: importing references, removing duplicates, screening (title/abstract), full-text review, quality assessment, and data extraction.
• Built-in PRISMA flow diagram generation.
• Guided bulk PDF upload
• Multi-user collaboration
• Enables multiple researchers to work simultaneously.
• Clear role management and decision tracking (audit trail).
• Integrations
• Compatible with EndNote, Zotero, Mendeley, and other reference managers.
• Exports directly to RevMan (Cochrane).
• Quality assessment and data extraction
• Built-in forms for risk of bias assessment and data collection.
Covidence reduces errors, speeds up the process, and ensures compliance with standards, which is critical for Cochrane-style reviews.
The combination of these features is not available with competing platforms. It is also the tool chosen by many other Finnish universities, which would strengthen collaboration opportunities among universities and within research.
