Expert services for cryogenic testing

The object of the tender process is the expert service of mechanical tests under cryogenic condition, which includes testing samples being exposed to liquid hydrogen and helium environment. Within the framework of the project funded by the European Union (Grant Agreement No: 101135374), the project titled Multiscale Characterisation and Simulation for Hydrogen Embrittlement Assessment: Development of an Open Knowledge Platform to Foster Capability Integration (HyWay) will focus on developing adaptive multiscale material modelling and characterization suites for assessing interactions between hydrogen and advanced metallic materials and demonstrate their capabilities on hydrogen storage and transport components. To this end, because one of the use cases will focus on stainless steel sheet and weldments for a liquid hydrogen storage tank application, an understanding of how environment for storing liquid hydrogen affects mechanical properties of stainless steel sheet and its weldment will be investigated. Therefore, the HyWay consortium led by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. is currently searching for the expert service for performing mechanical tests under cryogenic condition, including the liquid hydrogen and helium environment. The subject of the procurement is described in more detail in the tender documents, see in particular the Service Specification attached to the call for tenders as Annex 1. VTT will select one supplier as contract partner. The contract period is estimated to be fourteen (14) months. The objective is to get the agreement into force latest in December 2024.
