A framework agreement for pesticide analysis from passive samplers 2024 - 2027

Finnish Environment institute is seeking for offers of analyzing pesticides and their metabolites from passive samplers. The list of analyzed pesticides should include at least 150 substances and quality points are given from quantification limits and other relevant substances. The passive samplers can be POCIS type samplers, Chemcatcher with receiving phases of Empore or AttractSPE disk or other type of samplers. The annual number of samplers is expected to vary between 10 and 70 samplers depending on financing issues. In 2024, there will be 25-30 samplers to analyze. The shipment costs will be paid by Service Provider.

Passive samplers are used in environmental monitoring of pesticides in Finnish surface waters. Passive samplers are useful as they averaged concentrations of dissolved chemicals and they can detect very low micropollutant concentrations. The list of analyzed pesticides should include at least 150 substances. They cover e.g. pesticides on sale, their metabolites, some biocides and other substances concerned in water management in Finland. Quality points are given on low quantification limits and the number of pesticides included into analysis. At least some experience is required on analyzing pesticides from passive samplers and extra quality points are given on the number of analyzed samplers (2022-2024). Quality points are given for participation to interlaboratory studies. Passive samplers can have differing receiving phase materials, such as SDB-RPS, polymers, HLB granules or-disks or other related phases. In Finnish environment institute's current study, in summer 2024, there are passive samplers with Empore SDB-RPS disks, AttractSPE HLB disks, AttractSPE HLB-WCX-WAX discs and POCIS HLB samplers. Based on the results, the sampler type(s) for future pesticide monitoring will be selected. The deployment times of passive samplers in pesticide monitoring program will be mainly during June-October. In typical case, the samplers can be stored in cold before analysis and 5-25 samplers can be analyzed together. The annual number of samplers is expected to vary between 10 and 70 samplers depending on financing issues. In 2024, there will be 20-30 samplers to analyze. The shipment costs will be paid by Service Provider.

The contract will not give sole right to the service.
