Direct purchase of an Evosep One system

Turku Centre for Biotechnology, which is a shared advanced core facility and research centre, hosted jointly by the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University, provides cutting-edge technology and research services for Finnish and international academic and industrial research communities. In order to provide large-scale clinical profiling and single-cell proteomics services, Turku Centre for Biotechnology must replace the current HPLC system used to introduce samples into mass spectrometers with a high-throughput instrument.

The EvoSep One is a unique design, in that it uses a one-use pre-purification column and unique plumbing to allow rapid loading, thereby allowing a very large number of samples to be analysed in a short time, without blocking the separation column or making the mass spectrometer dirty. It is currently the only instrument on the market to meet all the specific technical requirements necessary to fulfil the uncompromising needs of the acquiring department. There are no reasonable alternative solutions that would allow maximum use of the mass spectrometer and have the ability to  accept samples on disposable trap columns on line  perform the sample elution from the trap column in parallel with the analytical gradient to allow short overhead time between samples (max 4 minutes and <2 minutes with 200 samples per day methods)  elute at low flow (down to 100 nl/min for single-cell applications)  minimise sample carry over  store multiple (minimum 4) 96 well sample trays  do partial elution to leave impurities on the trap columns  run reproducible short gradients (300 per day minimum)  be compatible with the ThermoFisher Orbitrap Exporis, Sciex ZenoTOF 7600, and Bruker timsTOF series mass spectrometers  use a new trap column for each run According to the Act on Public Procurement and Concession Contracts (1397/2016) section 40 (2) when, for technical reason, the contract may be awarded only to a particular supplier, and the absence of competition is not due to an artificial narrowing of the terms and conditions of the procurement, Contracting authorities may award public contracts by a direct award. Prior to making the decision, the Contracting authority has inspected the relevant markets and available products and after careful consideration found its´ conclusion grounded. The contract is awarded to Evosep ApS based on the grounds mentioned above.
