Invitation to tender for a cryoEM sample preparation (CEMSP) system

Åbo Akademi University intends to purchase a cryoEM sample preparation and analysis (CEMSP) system. The system will be placed in the Biocity building (3rd floor) in Turku within the Structural Bioinformatics Laboratory at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Biochemistry, Åbo Akademi University.

The Tenderer is requested to submit a tender for an independent, fully operational system (CEMSP) for preparing samples for structural studies using the cryoEM (electron microscopy) technique. The system should (not restricted to) enable simple, robust and reproducible sample preparation and vitrification of proteins with or without bound small molecule, DNA/RNA or peptide/protein ligands as well as virus particles and whole prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. The system should include a glow discharger including a suitable vacuum pump, for pretreatment of the EM grids. The instrument will be installed in the Biocity building, 3rd floor, by the Tender in Tykistökatu 6 A, FI-20520 Turku, within the Structural Bioinformatics Laboratory, Faculty of Science and Engineening, Biochemistry, Åbo Akademi University. The physical size and weight should be such that the instruments can be placed on a standard laboratory table or hood. The instruments should be functional at ambient temperature varying from 20°C to 25°C. Excluding maintenance breaks, the CEMSP system should be operation-ready continuously, throughout the year.

The procurement process can be terminated for a justified reason at any stage before the final contract. The contracting authority is not responsible for the costs nor any possible damage caused to the Tenderer. No compensation will be payable to Tenderers for preparing a tender, presenting it or otherwise taking part in the procedure.
