Request for Information multi-modal journey planner solutions

The focus of this Request for information is to gather information on multi-modal journey planner SaaS solutions on the market. Purpose of the service is to replace VR’s existing journey planner with a modern solution which enables multi-modal, modern and efficient door-to-door journey planning in VR’s various sales channels. Our goal is to increase train’s modal share from other transportation modes and with our multi-modal new journey planner solution we want to challenge the easiness of car use. This request for information aims at obtaining information on multi-modal journey planner solutions that meet the needs of VR, in order to enable an appropriate call for tenders to be made. This document is not a procurement announcement or a call for tenders, but a detailed market research, i.e. a request for information. Participation in this request for information procedure does not in any way bind any party in a potential future Invitation to Tender. Decisions to launch a possible procurement process will be taken after the market research. The procurement process and the subject of the procurement may be different from what has been mentioned in this request for information

The focus of this Request for information is to gather information on multi-modal journey planner SaaS solutions on the market. Purpose of the service is to replace VR’s existing journey planner with a modern solution which enables multi-modal, modern and efficient door-to-door journey planning in VR’s various sales channels. Our goal is to increase train’s modal share from other transportation modes and with our multi-modal new journey planner solution we want to challenge the easiness of car use. Target of the Service is to enable modern, door-to-door journey planning by VR’s customers with real time travel information, offer an efficient and fast tool for train offering distribution and enable a flexible method for deployment of different routing strategies. The solution should scale to accommodate various modes of travel: trains, busses, public transportation, taxis, shared mobility, parking, micro-mobility, car rentals, city bikes etc. In the Request for information VR is first and foremost interested in journey planner solutions. VR is looking for a supplier who is able to provide a modern SaaS solution that can be integrated to VR’s current sales channels and customer user interfaces. This Request for information does not include any sales channel development to e.g. VR Matkalla app and vr.fi System must be able to handle at least 2M door-to-door routing requests per day and must scale up to 20M routing requests per day.

Suppliers are asked to provide information about the services they provide that correspond to subject of the RFI. VR requests the following information from the supplier: · Company presentation · General description of the services offered by the company · Description of the service which fulfills the service described in this RFI · Supplier's comment for the possible procurement process · Pricing model and price estimate for the service described in the RFI · Project duration estimate for the implementation of the service described in the RFI Suppliers are requested to answer questions presented in separate appendix 1 (Supplier questionnaire). The used document format should be a commonly used file format, e.g. Microsoft Office documents and/or PDF. As a response to this request for information, Supplier is asked to fill in the questionnaire in Appendix 1. Supplier´s responses and given information are handled as confidential information. VR will not give any information to outsiders unless law, regulations or authorities needs to do so. Any confidential information that is delivered in the response must be clearly marked as such.
