3D X-ray Computer Tomography imaging system

LUT University is planning to procure a 3D X-ray Computer Tomography imaging system for research and education purposes mostly in the field of electronics, and to an extent in mechanical engineering. The equipment will also be used for education and training purposes by the nuclear engineering laboratory of the energy engineering department.

LUT University is planning to procure a 3D X-ray Computer Tomography imaging system for research and education purposes mostly in the field of electronics, and to an extent in mechanical engineering. The equipment will also be used for education and training purposes by the nuclear engineering laboratory of the energy engineering department. Typical use cases of the equipment will include: • Electronics reliability research: Detection, identification and localization of defects in electronic components (including small surface-mount parts such as ceramic capacitors, IC packages and large semiconductor modules found in power electronics) • Electrical engineering research and education: Structural studies of components and small assemblies/devices • Basic electronics education and prototype construction: non-routine inspection of solder joints • Mechanical engineering: Structural inspection of 3D-printed metal parts We are mainly looking for a tabletop solution with ample resolution for our needs, ease of use, and sufficiently fast imaging. A floor-standing solution may be considered if the unit does not consume too much space. We invite parties interested in bidding to register such that a market dialogue can be had such that the exact technical requirements can be formulated. • Deadline for responding to this prior information notice: August 15th, 2022 • Market dialogue: Early September, 2022 • Estimated start of bidding: September 12th, 2022 Supplementary documents with an early, non-binding draft of the technical requirements of the imaging system will be sent to the interested parties before the market dialogue to assist in preparation.

This notice is an information request. Its purpose is not to request tenders, nor does it oblige the contracting authority to carry through the actual procurement. The information request comes with an invitation to participate in market dialogue, in which operators interested in the procurement can engage in a dialogue concerning the procurement with the contracting authority. The purpose of the market dialogue is to obtain information about solutions available on the market. The market dialogue will not oblige suppliers interested in the procurement to participate in any tender competition to be organized later. By this information request, we would like to invite operators to engage in market and technical dialogue. Operators interested in having a market dialogue meeting are requested to register their interest in participating in the market dialogue no later than 15th of August 2022 by sending the name and contact details of their contact person to hankinnat@lut.fi with the heading: “3D X-ray Computer Tomography imaging system, Market dialogue.” The contracting authority will answer enquiries about the prior information notice and send out the invitations to market dialogues.
