Ilmoituksen teksti
Alkuperäinen teksti Hilmasta, muuttamattomanaFinavia grants possession of business premises for an Operator specialized in offering F&B products at Rovaniemi Airport for five-year period. The Tender consists of three business locations at Rovaniemi Airport, two of them after the security check (“airside”) and one before (“landside”). The secondary business unit at the airside is after the border control (“non-Schengen”), but in case there are only Schengen flights for a longer period, the border control can be bypassed by opening the glass wall. All the three business units have a kitchen of varying size.
The premises being tendered are at the heart of Finavia’s vision to offer world-class services for passengers, being the prime locations of the airport, and because F&B services play a crucial role in the overall passenger experience. Finavia’s customer promise of “for smooth travelling” underlines the vision built on the customer experience pillars:
GIFT OF TIME "I have time to do the things I like"
CONFIDENCE "I have a feeling that I am on top of things
REFRESHED "I feel good - body, mind, and soul"
FINNISH EXPERIENCE "I experience something unique".
Lisätiedot
Rovaniemi Airport is the largest of Finavia’s 19 regional airports with 735k passengers in 2023, bypassing Oulu Airport for the first time. The growth in 2023 was exceptionally high 31 % mainly due to new and expanding scheduled flights throughout Europe. Rovaniemi Airport is enjoying strong demand of Lapland winter wonderland that has been built at least for three decades, Santa Claus being a central attraction at the region. Celebrities visiting snowy Lapland with their private jets has also helped gaining visibility and advertising the destination via social media. The high season is the same as IATA winter season from November to March, December being the busiest. The peak day was 23.12.2023 with 44 departing narrow body aircraft. The region is working on attracting direct international flights to Rovaniemi in the summer season as well.
Rovaniemi is a small city of 65k (17th largest) inhabitants, but it seems to continue its long-term growth, as it is the capital of the Lapland region (180k inhabitants) with plenty of services, such as the University of Lapland, Lapland Central Hospital and Rovaniemi Airforce Base, to mention a few. The availability of work force is better than in other parts of Lapland, due to the population growth and healthier demographics. Businesspeople prefer the 1-hour flight to the capital city of Helsinki instead to 10-hour drive by car or slightly shorter train ride providing stable demand for the flights. Lately there has been roughly 4 departures per day from Rovaniemi to Helsinki in the summer season and more in the winter season that serve both the businesspeople and tourists, who can have connecting via Helsinki flights to various destinations around the world.
The terminal of Rovaniemi Airport was expanded by 75 % with an investment of €25m in 2018-2020. The third contact stand was built, and the overall capacity expanded to continuous 4 departures per hour (roughly 800 seats / 700 passengers), to enable the growth of tourism. For the winter season 2024-2025 Finavia plans to initiate slot coordination at Rovaniemi Airport, to limit the departures to 4 per hour, because higher number of departures per hour can cause delays for the remainder of the day. Slot coordination is the main tool to handle traffic growth globally. Stable traffic per hour is beneficial for the F&B Operator as well, as more customers can be served compared to congested situation.
The tendering process consists of three business units that are built and maintained by the Operator:
• Landside cafeteria with kitchen, located upstairs on the right when entering the terminal.
o Minimum opening hours are for departing passengers in the winter season, summer-time service is not compulsory, but the space needs to be open for passengers
year-round as a waiting area
o Lunch and wending machines are not compulsory, but preferred.
• Schengen restaurant in the with kitchen, located right ahead after the security check.
o Minimum opening hours are for departing passengers year-round.
o Warm food offering plays a crucial role for the passenger experience.
• Non-Schengen cafeteria with kitchen, located the end of the terminal after the border control.
o Minimum opening hours are for departing passenger in the winter season, summer-time not compulsory.
o Modifiable to Schengen area with a glass wall, if there is a long enough pause in Non-Schengen flights.
The vision for the premises is to surprise the customer positively with the variety and quality of the F&B offering, with a price level perceived providing high value for the money. The vision is to satisfy the customer with the smaller, yet important non-F&B product offering as well, but the focus lies in F&B, as there are two souvenir shops already in the terminal that are not part of this tendering process. The atmosphere at the restaurant should be built on Finavia’s four customer experience pillars, while the service is of high quality from skilled and dedicated staff.
