MARKET SURVEY Long cooling die and pumping system for an extruder equipment

With this market survey / prior information notice Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) surveys the market and requests information from suppliers concerning the procurement of a long cooling die (LCD) and a pumping system for a pilot size food extruder. Luke is planning the procurement of one long cooling die and one tailor-made pumping system within year 2024 to be used in Jokioinen, Finland, for the purposes of testing plant-based ingredients and producing of meat analogues. A long cooling die (LCD) is an enclosed cooling system (food-grade stainless steel) that is attached to an extruder equipment through a transfer bridge. The main purpose of this LCD would be to obtain plant-based meat analogues through high moisture extrusion. Generally, LCD uses water as an internal circulating medium with the help of an external cooling unit. Additional features are (i) an in-built pressure/temperature reading device, (ii) hose inlet for the injection of external ingredients at transfer-bridge point and (iii) a stainless-steel tray for sample collection. A pumping system (consisting of the vessel, pump and connecting pipe) for the injection of pressurized food liquid ingredients at transfer-bridge point needs to be implemented in parallel with the long cooling die. Technical features of the hose inlet must be in line with those of the pump. The long cooling die and the pumping system must be compatible with twin-screw and multi-screw extruders. The contracting entity invites the interested suppliers to participate in a market dialogue by sending their expression of interest and contact details (contact person, email address) by email to kirjaamo@luke.fi and a copy to hankintatuki@luke.fi preferably by March 8th, 2024, at the latest. The email should be titled /identified with “Market Survey 739/02 10 01 03/2024 Long cooling die and pumping system”. The interested suppliers are also kindly asked in their email to provide answers to the following questions: 1. Are you able to provide both equipment, the long cooling die and the tailor-made pumping system? 2. What would be the estimated delivery time? 3. What kind of technical support can you provide post-sale? 4. Are you able to manufacture tailor-made spare parts? How long would it take (on average) to deliver those spare parts? 5. How long is your warranty for the equipment? 6. Does the equipment meet all the requirements for food production (e.g., food grade stainless steel)? 7. Are you also able to provide thermostats for water circulation inside the long cooling die? If not, can you provide assistance with where to purchase them? The contracting entity may afterwards also send further questions and/or a draft procurement documents to interested suppliers for comments by email.
