NovaSeq X Sequencing System and Illumina DRAGEN Server v4

NovaSeq X Sequencing System and Illumina DRAGEN Server v4 for Finnish Functional Genomics Centre (FFGC), FIRI project Biokeskus Suomi BTK FIRI2023 To continue the research services in cost-effective and efficient manner, FFGC must upgrade the existing Novaseq 6000 sequencer, purchased in 2019, to the newest instrument version Novaseq X. The new Novaseq X has higher sequencing capacity and on-instrument data processing with the newest sequencing technology available. Purchase of Novaseq X together with separate DRAGEN server enables further data processing and combining data from different runs and complements the on-instrument data processing. Together with Biocenter Finland infrastructure network, Turku Bioscience has applied funding in the Academy of Finland FIRI 2023 call to update the instrumentation.

The Illumina Novaseq X is a unique instrument and currently the only instrument in the market which meets all the specific and necessary technical requirements to fulfill the uncompromising needs of the acquiring department as follows: - Capacity and throughput of at least 8 Tb in about 2 days - Read length of at least 2x150bp - Multiplexing of tens to thousands of samples from different applications in one run - On-instrument data processing to FASTQ and ability to do primary analysis of data (mapping to genome) - On instrument data processing for multiple application types from same sequencing run - Small instrument footprint in laboratory premises (WxDxH 90 cm x 95 cm x 170 cm) - Reagents can be shipped in RT as recommended by the manufacturer allowing more sustainable shipments. - Suitable for analysis of genomes, transcriptomes, and epigenomes of organisms with large genomes - Compatible with the existing infrastructure, including supporting instrumentation, sample preparation and quality system without extra work or costs. - Maintenance contract available with on-site support. Maintenance service operated from Finland. Separate server that is compatible with the on-instrument server and suitable for re-analyses and further analyses of the data with the same pipelines as in the on-instrument server According to the Act on Public Procurement and Concession Contracts (1397/2016) section 40 when only a certain supplier can implement the procurement for a technical reason, provided also that there are no reasonable alternatives or substitute solutions, and that the absence of competition is not due to an artificial narrowing of the terms and conditions of the procurement, the contract may be awarded only to a particular supplier, Contracting authorities may award public contracts by a direct award. Prior to making decision the Contracting authority has inspected the relevant markets and available products and after careful consideration found its' conclusion grounded.
