RFI: Yle Vaasa TV Studio Solution

With this Request for Information (RFI), Yle is seeking information from suppliers regarding TV production solutions for a new operations center to be built in Vaasa. The purpose of this RFI is to gather insights and proposals that will help Yle implement a modern and flexible production environment capable of meeting both current and future content production needs.

Yle Vaasa is relocating to new premises in early 2026. This transition presents an opportunity to implement a completely modern TV production environment with new solutions to meet the rapidly evolving media landscape. The TV production environment should support a wide and diverse range of productions across different genres, including children's programs, news and current affairs, talk shows, live broadcasts, video podcasts, visual radio broadcasts, slow TV, and nature programs. Yle is interested in systems and solutions that offer at least the following features and capabilities: 1) Multi-Camera Production: Support for diverse multi-camera productions such as traditional dramas, political debates, educational content, and interactive live broadcasts. 2) Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR): Lightweight systems that enable the use of virtual sets and augmented reality in a flexible and cost-effective manner. 3) Visual Radio Broadcasts: Solutions that allow video streaming simultaneously with radio broadcasts. The system should support simple, automated streaming solutions that can be integrated with radio channels' broadcasts. 4) Remote Production: Lightweight and mobile remote production solutions that provide cost savings and increased flexibility. 5) Upgradability and Scalability: The system should be designed with future updates and scalability in mind, allowing adaptation to changing production needs and technological advancements without extensive overhauls. 6) Sustainability and Cost-Efficiency: Solutions that utilize automation, artificial intelligence, software-based solutions, and cloud resources when appropriate.
